- Parents- Please ensure you are on time to collect your kids

See you there.
Melville Middle Distance went to the National Junior Championships held recently at Olympic Park in Sydney
Our boys Dylan Bailey and Raynor Keane are pictured here after running their 800 finals with gold medal winner and new National champion Kayla Van Der Linden
In hot steamy conditions Kayla set off at a cracking pace and stayed strong to set a new Australian meet record of 2:10.3 in winning her 800m final
It was a super effort to beat out 23 other girls from all across the nation in the U15 age group
I hope to see more of our athletes competing at the Nationals next season
Go the Roar!

Congratulations to Lachlan Bennett this month’s Middle Distance Academy winner.
Lachlan runs for Bateman/Bullcreek and also for Melville
He is not only having a great athletics season but was also voted “The most likely to become an astronaut” from a group of 30 high school students who attended a NASA workshop in the U.S in December last year.
On his return, Lachlan gave an articulate presentation to our training group and impressively fielded the many questions which the kids threw at him.
Since that night he has not missed a single middle distance training session.
His athletic performances have included a 2:02.4 PB in the 800m for a silver in the Athletics WA State Champs in January and a 4:37 PB in the 1500m at the Melville Centre Champs.
Lachlan consistently leads the pack and shows the way home when our training sessions have become challenging this season
Well done Lachie!

“The Middle Distance Academy Athlete of the Month is our Miss Consistency Vanessa Miller”
Vanessa runs with Bateman Bullcreek and continues her athletics development at the Melville Academy which has stepped up training to each Monday and Wednesday now.
Vanessa competed very well at the WA All Schools back in October and again at the Athletics WA State Championships held just recently
She is another Melville middle distance runner who rarely misses a session and is just a model athlete at training
Vanessa’s ability to knock out her interval repeats at a near identical time is quite extraordinary and makes her a coaches dream
Top stuff Vanessa!!
