How our training is run

Training is held at Len Shearer Reserve in Booragoon, on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon depending on the athlete’s age group. All summer training will commence the week starting 6 October 2025. Training is not compulsory but will ensure athletes learn correct technique and give them a chance to practice prior to competitions.

Summer Events Training

U7 – U9                             Wednesdays 4:30 – 5:30pm

U10 – U11                         Wednesdays 5:15 – 6:30pm

U12 and over                    Tuesdays 5:00 – 6:30pm

Middle Distance Training

For our aspiring 800m, 1500m and 3000m runners

U7 – U10                            Included in summer events training above

U11+                                   Mondays 4:30 – 5:30pm

U12+                                   Wednesdays 4:30 – 5:30pm

When attending training:

  • Athletes aged in Under 7 to Under 9 must have an adult responsible for them in attendance at all times.
  • Athletes must wear appropriate sports clothing and enclosed shoes.
  • Athletes must inform the coach of any recent injury, as well as any current physical discomfort.
  • Athletes are to stay with their group until the end of the session and must inform their coach if they need to leave the group for any reason (e.g. toilet or drink break).
  • During throws training, all equipment must remain on the ground until it is the athlete’s turn to throw, or unless directed by the coach.
  • Athletes are to be respectful of coaches and fellow athletes at all times.
