WA All Schools Championships When: 30 October – 1 November 2026

Who can compete:
WA school students aged 12–18 years. Athletics West membership is not required.

About the event:
A track and field championship for WA school students, with athletes competing individually in their chosen events for WA All Schools titles.

National pathway:
Yes – the event provide a pathway to be selected as part of the State Team competing at the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships.

WA State
Combined Event Championships
When: 21 – 22 November 2026

Who can compete:
U12 through to Senior and Masters athletes.

About the event:
Athletes compete in a Pentathlon, Heptathlon or Decathlon, completing a set combination of track and field events over one or two days. Points are awarded for each performance and combined to determine the overall State Champion.

Open 10,000m Championships
When: 22 November 2026

Who can compete:
Athletics West members aged 16 years or older by 31 December 2026.

About the event:
The longest track event on the State program, providing the ultimate test of distance running endurance.

WA State Relay Championships When: 12 – 13 December 2026

Who can compete:
U7 through to Senior and Masters athletes.

About the event:
A team-based event where Clubs/Centres select athletes to represent them in track or field relay teams. Athletes compete together as a team for their Club or Centre, rather than entering as individuals.

Who can compete:
U13 and older athletes.

A short, fast sprint event focused on explosive speed and acceleration.

WA State Open & U20 5,000m Championships When: 23 January 2027 

Who can compete:
U20 and older athletes.

A long-distance track event focused on pacing, stamina and endurance.

Little Athletics WA Challenge When: 30 – 31 January 2027

Who can compete:
U7–U12 athletes.

About the event:
A fun, participation-focused two-day event giving young athletes the opportunity to compete against athletes from other Centres at the WA Athletics Stadium, while chasing personal bests, earning PB ribbons and points for their Centre. This is a PB Challenge, with achievements recognised through PB ribbons rather than medals.

WA State 3,000m Championships When: 12 February 2027 

Who can compete:
U15 through to Open athletes.

About the event:
A distance running event combining speed, pacing and endurance.

WA State Junior Championships When: 19 – 21 February 2027

Who can compete:
U13–U18 athletes (born 2010–2015).

About the event:
The major championship event of the season for junior athletes, bringing together athletes from across WA to compete in their chosen track and field events for State titles and medals.

WA State Senior Championships When: 6 – 7 March 2027

Who can compete:
Open and U20 Athletics West members, with no qualification standard required. Eligible U13–U18 athletes may also compete where they have achieved the relevant Australian Athletics Open or U20 qualification standard.

About the event:
WA’s premier championship event for senior athletics, bringing together U20 and Open athletes to compete across track and field events for State titles and medals.

The major championship event of the winter season, bringing athletes together to race over a traditional cross country course featuring varied terrain. Race distances vary by age group, with athletes competing for individual honours.

About the event:
A fast-paced cross country event raced over shorter distances than the traditional State Cross Country Championships. The shorter format provides a different challenge and is a great opportunity for athletes of all abilities to experience championship cross country racing.
