The WA All Schools Championships is the premier track and field competition for school-aged athletes in Western Australia, bringing together secondary students aged 12 and older from all school sectors to compete head-to-head at the WA Athletics Stadium. This high-energy event requires no pre-qualification to enter, making it an inclusive yet highly competitive arena for students to showcase their talents in standard sprints, jumps, throws, and hurdles. Serving as the ultimate launchpad for young local talent, the top two finishers in each age category earn a coveted spot on the WA State Team to represent Western Australia at the Australian All Schools Championships.
Get ready for the ultimate celebration of teamwork and lightning-fast speed at the WA State Relay Championships! Hosted annually by Athletics West at the WA Athletics Stadium, this high-energy weekend shifts the spotlight away from individual glory and puts it entirely on club and centre pride. From Little Athletics juniors to Open-age senior pros, squads face off in a thrilling variety of events, ranging from traditional 4x100m and 4x400m blitzes to unique Swedish and Distance Medley Relays, alongside dedicated field event relays. It is a vibrant, loud, and incredibly fun atmosphere filled with precision baton changes, epic anchor legs, and massive team spirit where local athletes work together to smash state records and claim the ultimate crown of Western Australia’s fastest squad.
The Coles Junior Challenge is a high-energy developmental event designed specifically for Western Australia’s youngest rising stars. Hosted by Athletics West at the WA Athletics Stadium, the meet invites Under 7 and Under 8 athletes to step onto the big stage for a fun, non-competitive introduction to state-level track and field. Little Athletes rotate through a set program featuring a 75m sprint, the Vortex Javelin, and Long Jump, all wrapped up by a thrilling 100m shuttle relay. There are no rigid qualification standards for these youngest age brackets, making it a completely inclusive environment where elite senior WA athletes hang out on-site to mentor, assist, and cheer the kids on.
Get ready for the ultimate test of athletic superpower at the WA State Combined Event Championships! Hosted annually by Athletics West at the WA Athletics Stadium, this action-packed weekend sees Western Australia’s most versatile track and field stars ditch the single-event life to conquer it all. From Little Athletics juniors to Senior pros, competitors battle it out across five to ten gruelling disciplines—like the epic pentathlon, heptathlon, and decathlon. Forget crossing the finish line first to win; this competition relies on a clever mathematical scoring system where actual race times and jump distances are converted into points using official World Athletics scoring tables. This means a competitor could place third in every single track and field race but still take home the overall gold medal if their consistent performances rack up the highest cumulative point total on the massive live leaderboard. It is a thrilling, high-energy festival of speed, strength, and stamina where every single second saved and centimetre jumped pushes athletes closer to a golden ticket to the National Championships!
